JSE Sectors rearrangedA new sector structure was introduced by the JSE Stock Exchange. On Monday, 24 June 2002 this caused a problem for ShareFinder users because certain of the old JSE sector indices were changed and not updated in the nightly download. ShareFinder stops responding during the update procedureWhen processing the daily download for June 25, ShareFinder would stop responding. The only resolution was to press Ctrl+Alt+Del on the keyboard and shut ShareFinder down. Many of the old JSE sector indices were deleted or renamed in the previous night's download. When the next download was processed, the missing indices triggered a previously unknown bug in ShareFinder which caused it to stop responding. This problem has been resolved. An emergency upgrade was made available to correct this problem. To apply the upgrade, close ShareFinder then download and run fix20020626.exe. "Your database has not been updated for a few days..."ShareFinder erroneously gives this warning when calculating long or short term share recommendations. If you use ShareFinder's Portfolio Controller facility, this message may appear several times in quick succession when opening the Alert window. The erroneous warning appears because one of the old JSE sector indices is no longer being updated by the JSE. This problem has been resolved. Upgrade package 0704 corrected this and other bugs, as well as introducing new enhancements to ShareFinder. Versions of ShareFinder dated 4/07/2002 and later include the upgrade. Warning message appears repeatedlyA bug in the Portfolio Controller Alert window causes the warning, "Your database has not been updated for a few days..." to appear repeatedly, each time waiting for you to click OK. Eventually the warning will stop appearing. A future program update will correct this behaviour. You can prevent the Alert window from opening automatically by following these steps:
This problem has been resolved. The abovementioned program upgrade corrected this problem. Many sectors named "New Sector #xxx" have appearedShareFinder's response to a new sector that previously did not exist is to create a sector named "New Sector #xxx" where "xxx" is the sector number supplied by Sharenet. These will eventually be renamed by a maintenance instruction that is sent along with the regular supplemental data update. This problem has been resolved. The abovementioned program upgrade corrected this problem. Still having trouble? If you are experiencing difficulties that this document does not
