Unit Trust Naming Convention

ShareFinder utilises short names for all securities in its database. To understand the naming convention for Unit Trusts, this explanation is presented. This information applies to the InvestorData database only.

The company behind the unit trust is designated by the first two letters after U-, so ABSA would be U-AB and Brait would be U-BR.

If the company name consists of two or more words, then the first letter of each word would be used, so African Harvest would be U-AH and Allan Gray would be U-AG, otherwise we take the first two letters from the company name. This results in Appleton being U-AP.

If the result would cause a duplicate then we deviate from this as follows... Sage & Sanlam both fall into this category, so Sage would be U-SA and Sanlam would be U-SL.
