InvestorData Help

Getting Started with InvestorData

  1. Download the historical database for InvestorData subscribers. Take note of the last date in the database and enter it in the space on the application form (below).
  2. Fill out and submit the online application form.
  3. Install the historical database by double-clicking the file you downloaded (db2-xxxx.exe).
  4. Each trading day you will receive an email message containing an attached Zip file with the share price data. You must save this file into the C:\ID folder so that ShareFinder can process it. Instructions for popular email programs are shown below.

Outlook Express

  1. Go to the Inbox so that you can see the list of new emails that have arrived.
  2. Double-click on the message from InvestorData, with a subject such as "011299 sf", to open it. If there is more than one, then repeat the following steps for each.
  3. Right-click on the paperclip symbol, which indicates that a file is attached to the message.
  4. Choose Save As from the popup menu.
  5. In the location box, go to the Id folder. To do this, click the downward-pointing arrow next to "Save in", scroll to near the top of the list and click on the "C drive". Then look in the list of folders and files under it and double-click on "Id".
  6. Click the "Save" button.
  7. Close the email message. You can now delete it since you will not need it any more, or move it into another folder if you prefer.
  8. Start ShareFinder and you should see a message "There are update files waiting to be processed...", which indicates that ShareFinder has recognised the file and is about to add it to the database.
